Snapchat might add a ‘Join Group Chat’ sticker soon inside its Snaps

Published

Snapchat

We know that Snapchat was dealt a major blow few years back because of Facebook. This is because the company decided to copy the Stories feature from Snapchat and integrate it in Instagram. From Facebook’s point of view, it was beneficial because Stories was already a huge hit and Instagram Stories has also become a massive success. However, this meant that Snapchat users started to shift to Instagram because the reach of their Stories on Instagram would be better than Snapchat.

However, that is not the only thing that Facebook has copied from Snapchat and pasted into its Instagram app. There are lots of features that have been copied and we can go on all day regarding those features. However, the tables seem to have turned this time. Because we have a report which reveals that Snapchat is revealing a feature from Instagram this time.

But this time, the case is a little different for both the platforms. Why is that? Well, it is because neither of those apps have made the feature public on their platform. The feature that we are talking about is the ‘Join Group Chat’ sticker integrated into Stories. We earlier reported that Snapchat is building such a feature and it was revealed thanks to reverse-engineering expert.

Now, Snapchat is seen to be working on same sticker inside its app and it was also found through reverse-engineering the latest Snapchat app. This also makes it the first time when a feature from one app has been copied to another app but none of the apps have the feature ready. It seems like Snapchat did not want to get left behind and as soon as they learnt that Instagram is working on it, they also started to work on it. Also, it seems to be a relatively simple feature so Snapchat might as well add it before Instagram to gain the advantage.

Google allows Advertisers to promote YouTube Live Streams as Display Ads

Published

Google new ad format

You will now see the latest live streams of your favourite creators on your websites or the websites that you often visit. This is because Google is introducing a new ad format for advertisers which lets you do that. With this new ad format, you will be able to run YouTube live streams from creators as display ads if you are a marketer.

So for example, if a website has enabled display ads then it is likely that you might be seeing the live stream from your favourite YouTube creator. For example, you might also see the live stream on this website as well. Also, you are definitely not forced to watch the stream as you will be allowed to pause the stream, as well as the music, will be disabled by default.

Also, the entire video is not an ad so you can click anywhere you want apart from the text clearly mentioned at the end which reads “Continue Watching on YouTube”. That’s when the ad gets clicked and not if you pause the video or mute the audio. As we know, YouTube offers free live streaming so advertisers will not have to pay for it. However, advertisers will have to pay for the ad unit which should be higher as it takes more space.

At the moment, this new ad format is in limited beta. And Google is looking at how this ad unit performs before rolling it out for all publishers and advertisers. However, we believe that this ad unit will do well for publishers as well as advertisers. Having said that, we also think that the ad clicks will be limited in this new format.

It is not clear at the moment whether Google will charge you based on what amount of live stream did the user watch or for the entire live stream even if the user watched just the beginning of it. We will know all about it when we get the official roll out of this ad unit.

Some Business Page Info Sections will be removed by Facebook from August 1

Facebook Business pages

As we all know, every company in the world does a lot of changes to get better. However, there are times when changes are done for the sake of it. Nonetheless, Facebook is making a change once again to its Page Info Section. We recently saw that Facebook started showing the first created as well as previous names of Facebook pages. Now, we are hearing that Facebook is removing some sections of its Page Information.

Facebook says that a new business page update is coming which will remove certain page information sections. This prompts page admin to integrate the fields which are being removed into other sections. This page update will remove page listing options such as Mission, Company Overview, Biography, Affiliation, and Personal Interests.

Now, this update should not be of concern to most of the people because these fields are not read and it does make sense that Facebook is removing them. This is also an effort by Facebook to streamline company page listings on its platform.

However, people also argue that more is always better and Facebook should show as much information as possible about the pages so people can take a guess for themselves. Looking at Facebook’s position, the company might be trying to collect as less information as possible so that it does not come under the scanner for collecting unnecessary data.

Facebook has found that most businesses cut and paste data between the different sections on their page just to fill them and it does not make any sense. The changes that we have mentioned above will come into effect from the beginning of August.

This means that those sections will be removed from August 1. So you still have some time to make some changes to your business pages and optimize according to the needs of your business.

Marketing spends around the world

There are reports regarding how Google, Amazon and Facebook are dominating the field of marketing. It is obvious that the most amount of money will also be spent by marketers on the platforms which get the most amount of traffic. And these platforms are Google, Facebook and Amazon. You can find hundreds of reports which will say that Facebook marketing is dead, Facebook reach is dead. But the fact of the matter is that Facebook is still a great place for marketing.

Now, a report terms that the dominance from these platforms in the marketing field is “oligopoly” which is basically same as monopoly but includes three companies. You might have heard that a company is having monopoly which means no other company can compete with it. Oligopoly means that three companies are dominating in the market and no one else is able to give them competition.

In the report, it is mentioned that Amazon is now the third-largest digital ad platform in the US followed by Google in first and Facebook in second position. Now, the report reveals that an agency spends 50% of its total budget spend every year on the “oligopoly” platforms whereas Marketers spend 41% compared to a total of 43% overall.

However, the respondents said in these survey that they want alternatives to the oligopoly of Facebook, Google and Amazon. The number of respondents who want an alternative to the oligopoly is roughly 65%. The report also says that 66% of marketers or agencies believe their advertising options are limited because of the oligopoly.

The report states that policies, Ad options and performance of these platforms are not uniform. Although the respondents say that they want an alternative, they still say that the other platforms need “to improve advertising outcomes.”. Also, people believe that Amazon is an “alternative” to Google and Facebook and not part of the Oligopoly.
